Living and working in the Netherlands. Drawing since i was able to hold a pencil in my hand. Although i did attend a school for visual design in the past i have largely remained self-taught (autodidact).
L’art sauvage or The savage art refers to the artless ‘wild’ visual language that I strive for in my drawings. In my view a drawing does not have to be technically correct. Spontaneity, coincidence and (wild) playfulness of a work mean much more to me. This is one of the reasons I’ve started drawing on the battered surface of scrap wood lately as well.
I mainly draw figurative representations that i depict from my mind’s eye. Usually i start without a preconceived plan. By drawing, the composition develops, as it were, by itself. Topics often focus on the human figure in its pure thus naked vulnerability in combination with wild animals, mythology and fantasy creatures. The disturbed relationship between nature and modern man is a recurring subject in my works.
Most used tools consist of ballpoint, graphite- and conté-pencils, brushes, aquarel and ink techniques including the use of homemade ink and reed pens.

To improve originally hand-drawn images i often use a computer with graphical programs Gimp and Krita (both opensource) and Adobe Photoshop in combination with a drawing tablet of XP-Pen. Although I am still learning to use the stylus on the drawing tablet, lately I also have started to draw completely digitally.

I hope you’ll enjoy my works and i would even be more glad you’ll find some inspiration here for your own creative projects !
